La Bodega
In the Montes de Toledo, near the Cabañeros National Park, Dehesa del Carrizal has a history marked by passion and respect for the land. It all began in 1987, when physician and entrepreneur Marcial Gómez Sequeira founded this winery with a bold vision: to make unique wines in a region with no winemaking tradition.
Two years later, in 1989, our first wine was born, a Cabernet Sauvignon that laid the foundations of our commitment to excellence. Over the decades, we have been perfecting our work until 2006, when we achieved the Vino de Pago distinction , the highest recognition in Spanish viticulture, which certifies the uniqueness of our terroir and the quality of our artisanal winemaking, entirely made on the estate.

In 2010, the estate began a new phase under the management of the Villar Mir family, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and respect for nature. Since then, Dehesa del Carrizal has not only grown in reputation, but has also established itself as a benchmark in the production of wines that reflect the essence of our landscape: a unique environment of acidic and siliceous soils at an altitude of 800 meters, where each vintage tells a story of harmony between nature and human effort.
Today, our winery continues to write its history, proud to be a bridge between the biodiversity of our land and the tables of those who value the unique character of a Vino de Pago. Each bottle is a tribute to this trajectory, a liquid story that connects our past, present and future.
Born and raised in the heart of the Loire Valley, Pierre-Yves Dessevre grew up surrounded by vineyards and in a small family winery in l’Anjou, one of France’s most iconic wine regions. His passion for oenology and viticulture led him to study agronomy and oenology in Bordeaux, where he obtained outstanding awards, such as the prize for the best taster in his class.
His international career began with internships in vineyards and wineries in Bordeaux and extended to prestigious wine regions such as California, the Loire Valley and Mendoza, Argentina. In 2013, he joined the Dehesa del Carrizal project, where he has led the team as director, bringing his vast technical and enological experience, as well as his innovative approach to integrated vineyard management, winemaking and wine tourism.
Under his direction, Dehesa del Carrizal has continued to consolidate its position as a benchmark in the production of single vineyard wines, combining tradition and modernity to offer unique wines of exceptional quality.

At Dehesa del Carrizal, our artisanal production process is carried out entirely on the farm under strict quality controls.
From harvesting to aging, every stage is meticulously cared for: the grapes are selected and handled with precision to preserve their integrity and quality, fermented in tanks suited to their characteristics, and aged in carefully selected French oak barrels.
The final blend, the result of a rigorous selection, seeks balance and complexity. After barrel aging, the wines continue to evolve in the bottle, improving over time.
